After the Mongols, led by Baycu Noyan, massacre half their tribe, the Kay, who have settled in Erzurum, seek refuge with the Dodurga. This puts Erturul in conflict with Tutekin, his cousin, who is jealous of him, as well as Gündodu, who has been misled by the Dodurga’s main threat, Aytolun and her brother Gümüştekin.
Aytolun married Tutekin’s father, Korkut Bey, so that after killing Korkut, she could assist Gümüştekin in becoming the margrave of all Turkmen tribes with the help of Emir Sadettin. Only Selcan is aware of the threat and is constantly attempting to warn Gündodu, who dismisses her for her past misdeeds.
Along with these schemes, Tutekin’s alp, who works for Baycu Noyan, turns Tutekin against Erturul, worsening their relationship, but is later killed by Erturul, and his relations with Tutekin gradually improve.
When Selcan’s words are heard and Korkut is killed, Aytolun and Gümüştekin are killed for their treachery. After the death of Tutekin, Erturul is said to have killed Noyan, and the tribe is split, with 1000 migrating to Ahlat with Gündodu and 400 migrating to Western Anatolia with Erturul in Ertugrul Season 2.
